 THE PIN BADGE OF THE
 UK.REC.COMPETITIONS
NEWSGROUP MEMBERS Origin of the Badge
On January 1st 2000, a number of us (on the uk.rec.competitions newsgroup) won tickets to the Royal Festival Hall, to see Peter Pan.
Several people e-mailed each other to say where they would be sitting. This was fine and I met one person.
Later on I realised that at least one NG member had been sitting behind me and I hadn't known. We suggested that perhaps we ought to have a secret sign or something.
From this idea, the lapel badges emerged. There was a competition to decide what to put on the badge. WWW turned into Who Wears Wins. The badges were designed and made.
Since then, they have been seen at lots of meetings, exhibitions, and even on TV (if you looked closely!). Something strange started to happen, a number of people who had received their badges then won major prizes. So perhaps they are lucky...

How Do I Get One?
To order one, please contact Lynne at lynne.h@iname.com. She will reply with details of where to send payment.
Payment by cheque or postal order only; no cash, please.

Cost
The badges cost £3.50, including postage & packing.
The cost of manufacture is quite high, and advice was taken from the badge company as to what to charge.
Once all the costs of having the badges made are covered, along with postage & packing, any remaining profit is used to send a donation to a charity, often one that has been referred to on the NG.
