Hi folks.
Hope no one minds me posting this here but I've had a few requests on how to
get the German server and my email is playing me up at the mo so I thought
it would be easier to post the details here for everyone to read.

what you have to do first is get a username and password so go to

http://news.cis.dfn.de

follow the instructions there (i think you basically email them and ask for
a username and password)

Once you have them then you have to set up your newsreader. I use outlook
express so am not sure how to set it up on anything other than that.

so here is how to set up O/E for the german news server

Open Outlook Express
Click on TOOLS menu
Click on ACCOUNTS
Click on NEWS tab
Click on ADD button and click NEWS
Enter the name you would like to appear on all the news you post and click
NEXT
Enter your email address and click NEXT (remember to add a spam trap at
this stage if you want one ie myname@NOSPAM.mydomain.com)
Enter the name of the news server, this is "news.cis.dfn.de" and click on
the "this server requires me to log on and enter your username and password
details
click NEXT
Choose a friendly name and click NEXT
Choose "Connect using my phone line" and click NEXT
Select the modem you use to connect and click NEXT
Select "Use existing dial-up connection" and highlight your dial up account,
then
click NEXT
Click on FINISH
Click on CLOSE

Outlook Express is now set up for internet news.
