Stopping Junk Mail
Entering competitions
can mean you get added to mailing
lists, heres how to get off that list...with thanks to Richard
Southgate for this information.
"Everyone gets fed up with junk mail & faxes. How often have you been pestered
in the middle of Eastenders by some character trying to sell you double
glazing? As well as being a nuisance, unsolicited marketing is a waste of
resources, and in the case of fax and mail produces a lot of waste.
There is a way to stop it. Or at least most of it
The easiest one to stop is Junk Mail - you can write, FREE, directly to
the Mailing Preference Service at:

or call the direct marketing helpline on 0345 034599 to get a form.
You can also call this number to contact the Phone Preference Service and
stop junk phone calls (bit more complex as it depends on who supplies your
phoneline - I'm with BT and went through the BT operator and it had the
same effect - BT doesn't advertise this service widely)
To stop Faxes phone the Fax Preference Service on 0541 554555 for a form,
or use the 0345 034599 number again. "

BT Phone Bill Tips
JUST A TIP!
For anyone who is not aware, and who has a BT phone line, they operate a
web service where one can 'view their own bill' up to 6pm any previous night.
I know it does not reduce bills, but at least you can keep a check on phone
charges. Link:-

- You will need your BT account Number - Thanks NED for this info.
FAQ BT Phone bill
Also you can phone 0800 854 608 and get the same information - you have
to key in your customer number (8 digits) which is on your bill - I ring
this every few days - it's a good way to be prepared and budget for the
amount on the forthcoming bill!
